A little bit about myself ...

I fell in love with art when I was eight years old.

In fact, I can recall the exact moment.

Every few months my art-history-crazed mother visited my third grade class to teach us about different artists — "Meet the Masters," they called it. While we listened to her talk about the artist's life, techniques, and successes, I remember trying my very best to mimic one of their masterpieces with the semi-dried glue sticks and safety scissors supplied to us. I remember waking up for school every morning in hopes that it was a "Meet the Masters" day.

When I started college at Gonzaga University I knew I wanted to make a meaningful career out of my love for art. On a whim, I joined the university’s student-run newspaper my sophomore year and developed an unexpected kinship for sharing artists’ stories through writing. And I also found opportunities to apply my knowledge of visual art at Jundt Art Museum, where I happily spent most of my free time as a senior.

Now I'm combining these interests as I earn my Master of Arts in Arts Journalism and Communications at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
